This trip is perfect for those looking for an afternoon float.
Our half-day trip originates below Lake Isabella and ends at Miracle Hot Springs. This trip features Class III rapids and is ideal for people who want to see the river but aren’t enthusiastic about tackling the rivers biggest rapids. It is a wonderful introduction to the Lower Kern. These trips are not regularly scheduled so if you have a large group and are looking for more information, then please call or email us.
After arriving and checking in at our Rafting Center at 1PM, a guide will suit everyone up with a helmet and PFD. We’ll then drive to the put-in, where we will do a paddle talk and then launch the trip. We’ll float through the Lower Kern canyon, and will encounter a handful of rapids before reaching takeout.
What’s the difference between the Lower and Upper Kern? The biggest difference is that the Lower Kern originates from Lake Isabella and is a regulated flow. This means that we have flows much longer in the season, as the river level is less dependent on run-off.
Who do you recommend for trip insurance? We recommend you supplement personal insurance with travel insurance. Cancellation initiated by you may result in substantial loss of fees paid. Available insurance protects against the loss of deposits/full fare in the event you must cancel because of unforeseen circumstances. If you don’t have a preferred travel insurance company, some options are BHTP and Travel Guard.
