Kern River Hiking

There are many hikes in the local area, below are the ones that we have written about, with more added monthly. For additional hikes, we suggest you visit the Kern River Sierra hiking webpage.

Difficulty: We know whitewater so that’s what we did with the hikes too. Class I (easy stroll) to Class V (very strenuous / challenging).

Wofford Heights and Alta Sierra Hikes

Isabella Peak Lookout Trail

This hike provides outstanding views of Lake Isabella and isn’t that difficult.

A favorite as you can easily escape the summer heat and the summit views are spectacular.

Upper Kern, & Kernville hikes

Hiking trails in and around the Upper Kern corridor and Kernville, CA.

Whiskey Flat Trail

The WFT is an easy trail towards the back of Kernville. It’s flat for most of the way and you can go as far or as short as you like.

Power’s Peak

Power’s Peak is a winner for its huge views of Lake Isabella and Kenville.

Length: Long

Difficulty: Class V

Valhalla Falls

Excellent for hot days, plan to get wet as you can swim right up to the waterfall.

Four Mile Trail

This trail gets busy during the summertime but provides the closest access to the Forks of the Kern.

Length: 8 miles
