Recent water data from the State of California shows that winter precipitation above the Kern River was less than 15% of average. It means that the season on the Upper Kern will be brief. We will be running the Upper Kern as long as flows are sufficient for fun rafting but the season will likely last only a few weeks. We don’t need a lot of water for a lot of fun but you will need to go in early May. We will not be running any trips on the Lower Kern this season due to expected low water conditions.
If you want to raft the Upper Kern this season, you need to act soon as we have limited availability. If you have booked a Kern trip outside of what we are forecasting, we will contact you.
