WOFFORD HEIGHTS, CALIF. – March 7, 2011— Kern River Outfitters has announced April 16 as the opening day for their professional guide training course conducted on the Kern River in Southern California. The six day course provides participants with an intensive training in the art of whitewater rafting including swiftwater rescue skills, natural and human history, and customer service.
Those selected to work for Kern River Outfitters as river guides are able to take advantage of an active and fun lifestyle spent outdoors on the river, the opportunity to meet and raft with hundreds of interesting people, subsidized summer housing, participation in the company’s SIMPLE-IRA pension plan as well as the chance to work on other rivers in Idaho and Oregon.
Kern River Outfitters’ guide school is touted as the best whitewater training and skill development course in the recreation industry. The cost for the six day school is $715.85. With the abundant snow pack this winter, we expect to be running trips from mid April through the Labor Day weekend.” He adds, “Every year we look for bright, articulate, and athletic recruits who love the outdoors and love sharing it with other people.”
The course is not limited to people looking to become professional river guides. It is also open to private rafters looking to advance their whitewater boating skills. Interested parties can contact Kern River Outfitters at 1-800-323-4234 for more information or to sign up for the course.
