Our Kern staff numbers upwards of 25 full and part time guides and every year a handful move on to real-life careers. We strive for a mix that allows us to add a few great people every season and use our spring guide school as a way to recruit new folks. This year the 6-day school starts on April 13th and ends on April 18ths. The renowned school offers rafting enthusiasts, of all levels, an opportunity to learn what it takes to be a guide. If you are interested in joining our whitewater school or know someone who would make a great river guide, have them call us. Our school is limited to 12 participants and costs $795. You can find more information about our school here.
Matt is the owner and operator of Kern River Outfitters. He has been guiding for nearly 20 years and has logged over 20,000 river miles. When he is not on the Kern, you will find him guiding for his older brother, Will, in Southern Oregon, or his younger brother, Skip, on the Middle Fork of the Salmon in Idaho. In the off-season, Matt writes whitewater guidebooks for GoRafting.com
